Chief Officer Administration and Disaster Management, Esther Ikaru yesterday received furniture handed over by World Food Programme (WFP) to County staff stationed at the warehouse.
Speaking during the brief handover ceremony, CO Ikaru lauded the partnership effort between the County Government and WFP assuring of her commitment to support it fully. Chief Ikaru further commended the support from WFP saying it will enhance productivity in anticipation of County Government Covid-19 relief food that is to be stored at the warehouse before dispatch.
While citing a fire incident in Lokipoto that has destroyed 26 houses, the Chief Officer also appealed for support from WFP and other partners for Non Food Items (NFIs) in a bid to bring humanitarian relief to the affected households.
WFP Officer in Charge Lodwar Office Eng. Stephen Maingi reiterated the need for working together saying the Organization will give support in the coming relief food transportation as well as plans to support the construction of the County warehouse and capacity building of warehouse staff on warehouse systems such as commodity tracking among others.
The Chief officer also conducted a guided tour of the warehouse inspecting rubbles and thereafter met and addressed loaders stating her appreciation for their work as she committed to support them going forward.
Present during the handover was Assistant Director Humanitarian Affairs John Tukei, WFP programme policy Officer Gabriel Ekaale, WFP Supplychain Officer Oswald Omwange and County Warehouse staff.
