Governor Josphat Nanok has been elected as the new chair for the Council of Governors (COG). Nanok takes over from Meru Governor Peter Munya whose two-year term has lapsed. Munya has held this position since May 21, 2015 when he took over from Bomet Governor Isacc Ruto who was the first chair to the Council.
Governor Nanok becomes the third chair at the Council that comprises of leadership from all the 47 counties in Kenya. He will be deputized by Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu who retains this position as the vice chairman of the Council. Ukur Yattani of Marsabit County has been replaced by Kiambu Governor William Kabogo as the new Chief Whip
